Sixth Periodic Review of Parliamentary Constituencies

Update: An amendment to the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 postponed the due date for the first Boundary Commission reports under the new rules until October 2017. The Commissions have therefore abandoned the Sixth Periodic Review. As things currently stand, new reviews will commence in 2016 using updated electorate numbers.

This website follows the progress of the Sixth Periodic Review of UK Parliamentary constituencies, and provides map based tools and information to aid understanding of, and participation in the public consultation process.

The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011  introduced a reduction in the number of MPs from 650 to 600 together with strict new rules to ensure that all* constituencies have a registered electorate within 5% of the UK average.   This means that the current review will see the biggest shake up of constituemcy boundaries for many years.
*Three island area are exempted from the equalisation requirements.

It should be noted that the boundaries changed by this review are those of parliamentary constituencies represented by MPs. The changes will have no impact on the local authority that provides council services in your area, or on the boundaries of wards represented by your local councillors.

Boundary Assistamt is independent from government and is not aligned to any political party.
