Notional Results

Notional Results are attempts to estimate how a proposed constituency would have voted at the last general election if the new boundaries had been in place.

As voting data for parliamentary contests is not available at ward level, notional results are calculated by extrapolating from local election results.   For London in 2010 this is relatively straightforward as local elections were held in all boroughs apart from the City of London on the same daya s the General Election.   However, it should be emphasised that these are only estimates of how the new constituencies might have voted in 2010 and are not predictive of future General Election results.
